Chengxi Shipyard Co. on July 23, successfully undocked the third 35,500 DWT self-unloading vessel, built for CSL Canada, from the shipyard’s “Hengshan” dock. CSL sister company CSL International (CSLI) also has vessels on order at Chengxi.
All ships will share similar design and technology, and collectively be known as Trillium Class vessels.
The Trillium Class vessels will boast technology that will provide them with industry-leading benefits and advantages.
CSL, a division of the CSL Group, announced on June 19th a firm order for two new gearless bulk vessels, bringing to six the number of “Trillium Class” ships to be built as part of its major fleet expansion program for the Great Lakes market.
The 35,500-DWT self-unloader measures a Seaway maximum 225.6 by 23.8 metres, features custom hull design for increased cargo lift, EPA Tier II compliant main engines, automated cargo-handling equipment and the latest environmental and safety systems.
